Read guide →Common questions
Is a virtual office legal in Bangladesh?
Yes, using a business centre address and services is lawful. The question is whether that address meets the requirements of each authority you deal with. For RJSC an address must be notified; for a trade license, BIN and bank account you usually need documentary proof that you actually occupy space there, such as a rental or licence agreement.
Can my home address be my company's registered address?
It can be notified to RJSC as the registered office, but check two things: whether the local authority will issue a trade license for your activity at a residential address, and whether you are comfortable with legal notices and the company name displayed there. Many founders use home addresses initially and move once they take an office.
Can I forward a Bangladesh number to a phone abroad?
Yes, operators allow call divert to international numbers, but international forwarding is charged to the Bangladesh number at the operator's rates, which can be significant. Many foreign businesses instead use a licensed IP telephony service with an app, so calls are answered over the internet through a lawful provider.
Will callers know they are speaking to a remote receptionist?
The receptionist answers in your business name using your greeting, so most callers experience it as your front desk. If asked directly, the receptionist should answer honestly according to the script you approve. Transparency on this point protects your reputation.
Can I hold my company's AGM in a rented meeting room?
Yes. The Companies Act 1994 does not require the AGM to be held at the registered office. The notice must state the venue, date and time and be sent within the notice period required by the Act and your articles. Make sure the room is large enough for shareholders who may attend.
Can I get a trade license for a serviced office?
Usually yes, if the agreement is in your company's name, identifies the specific office, and the operator provides the ownership or head-lease documents the City Corporation asks for. Confirm with the operator in writing that they will support trade license and BIN applications before you sign.
