Should my startup be a proprietorship or a private limited company?
If you plan to have co-founders with equity, raise investment, work with large corporate clients or hire senior staff with share options, a private limited company is usually the right choice from the start. A proprietorship suits a single-owner business testing demand with limited risk and no near-term investors.
Is a startup legal session the same as hiring a lawyer for a full engagement?
No. A session is a focused advisory meeting that diagnoses your position and sets priorities. It does not include drafting full agreements or making filings. If you need that work done, we quote it separately after the session so you only pay for what you actually need, once the priorities are clear.
When should a startup start preparing for investment?
Ideally three to six months before you plan to approach investors. That gives time to file missing RJSC returns, regularise tax and VAT, formalise founder agreements and assemble a data room. Starting after a term sheet is signed puts you under time pressure and weakens your negotiating position on warranties and conditions.
